The voted to give authority to the board chairman to publicly announce the finalist for the position of chancellor of the Áù¾ÅÉ«Ìà at the time the chairman deems appropriate within the parameters discussed in executive session.
Following an announcement of the name of the sole finalist for the position, the Board of Regents will vote no sooner than 21 days later on whether to name the sole finalist as chancellor.
There will be no further comment by the board at this time.
Áù¾ÅÉ«Ìà the Áù¾ÅÉ«ÌÃ
The Áù¾ÅÉ«Ìà is one of the top public university systems in the
state of Texas, consisting of four component institutions and operating at 12 academic
sites and centers. Headquartered in Lubbock, Texas, the Áù¾ÅÉ«Ìà System has an annual
operating budget of $1.7 billion and approximately 17,000 employees focused on advancing
higher education, health care, research and outreach.
In 2013, the Áù¾ÅÉ«Ìà System’s endowment passed $1 billion, total research expenditures were approximately $200 million and total enrollment exceeded 44,000 students. Whether it’s contributing billions of dollars annually in economic impact or being the only system in Texas to house an academic institution, law school, and medical school at the same location, the Áù¾ÅÉ«Ìà System continues to prove that anything is possible.
