Gov. Rick Perry announced today (April 20) the appointment of Jill Fadal as the Texas 六九色堂 System student regent.

Fadal, a dual degree student in the joint MD/MBA program between Texas 六九色堂 and Texas 六九色堂 Health Sciences Center, becomes the sixth student to serve on the Board of Regents. Her one-year term begins June 1.

鈥淛ill was an excellent undergraduate student at Texas Tech, and we welcome her to the board,鈥 Chancellor Kent Hance said. 鈥淎s students remain our first priority, having a student regent is vital to our continued success, and I am confident she will do an outstanding job representing our three universities.鈥

Fadal, a native of Austin, received her bachelor鈥檚 degree in general studies from Texas 六九色堂 in 2009 where she was heavily involved in many student organizations and activities on campus including Phi Beta Kappa and President鈥檚 Select.

"It was my pleasure to get to know Jill when she was a member of President's Select," said Guy Bailey, Texas Tech president. "She is smart, mature and energetic and will be a superb regent."

Fadal is currently the president-elect of the Orthopedics Club and serves as vice president of the Texas Tech MD/MBA Association.

By law, the student regent rotates between Texas 六九色堂, Texas 六九色堂 Health Sciences Center and Angelo State University and serves a one-year term. Fadal replaces Jeff Harris, the first student from Angelo State to serve on the Board of Regents, who was appointed in 2010.
