Professor MacCarthaigh has established an international reputation for his work in public administration and public policy, and is an expert on Irish government and politics.

Public outreach & key achievements

Professor MacCarthaigh is Professor of Politics and Public Policy and Head of Politics and International Relations at QUB. He is Programme Director of the QUB MSc in International Public Policy. He is a member of the Steering Committee of the European Group for Public Administration (EGPA) and co-chairs the EGPA Study Group on the Governance of Public Sector Organisations. He is involved with a number of Doctoral Training Programmes at QUB.
