Dr Simon Egan

School of History, Anthropology, Philosophy and Politics

Dr Egan's research focuses on the history and culture of the 'wider Gaelic world' (Ireland, the Highlands and Islands of Scotland, and the Isle of Man) in period, c.1100-c.1600. He is particularly interested in exploring: (i) the evolving relationship between these regions and (ii) their interactions with the monarchies of England and Scotland during key events such as the Hundred Years War, the Wars of the Roses, and the Tudor period, and (iii) engaging with Irish and Latin source material.
