Dr Michele Crepaz

School of History, Anthropology, Philosophy and Politics

Dr Crepaz's areas of specialisation are Interest Group Politics and Transparency Research. While the first focuses on the examination of interest group influence on public policy, the second explores the way in which contemporary governments have opened to public scrutiny through open data and other tools.

Public outreach & key achievements

  • Dr Crepaz holds the prestigious Vice Chancellor’s Illuminate Fellowship. He has been invited to present his work at international conferences and events organised by civil society organisations, representative organisations and public bodies. More specifically to his engagement with state bodies, he has participated in events organised by the Irish Standards in Public Office Commission, the Office of the Head of Ethics and Lobbying Regulation and the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform of the Irish Government in the framework of its commitment to the Open Government Partnership’s Action Plans. Dr Crepaz is a member of the PSAI Executive Committee and Affiliated Scholar at the Brussels-based NGO The Good Lobby. With Raj Chari (TCD), he manages the research blog www.regulatelobbying.com on lobbying and its regulation. His research appears in leading international peer-reviewed journals, including West European Politics, the Journal of European Public Policy, Regulation & Governance, Public Administration, European Political Science Review and the Journal of Public Opinion, Elections and Parties. His work has received the support of the Irish Research Council (€160,000, approx.)
