Public outreach & key achievements

I publish widely, both academically and in popular media, on various aspects of Russian history, politics and foreign policy. One of mine main research areas has been the history of the Communist Party’s ruling structures in the USSR and Russian foreign policy since the collapse of the USSR. My work appeared in the Irish Times, The Independent (London), The Conversation, BBC History Magazine, and many others.

I welcome potential research students in any area of Russian history and politics.
